Psalm 23
The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures,
He leadeth me beside the still waters, He restoreth my soul.
He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness
for His Name's sake.
Yeah, though I walk through the valley
of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil for Thou art with me.
Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies;
Thou annointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
John 14:1-3
Let not your heart be troubled; ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
II Timothy 4:6-8
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness,
which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day:
and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded, that neither death,
nor life, nor angels, nor principalities,
nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature,
shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Matthew 11:28-30
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me;
for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in Heaven
Hallowed be Thy Name
Thy Kingdom come
Thy Will be done
on earth as it is in Heaven
Give us this day our daily bread
And forgive us our debts (trespasses)
As we forgive our debtors (those who trespassed against us)
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil.
For Thine is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory
Forever...Amen
Footprints
One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene he noticed two sets of foot prints in the sand: One belonged to him and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him,
he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest
and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. "Lord you said that once I decided to follow you,
you would walk with me all the way.
But I noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there was only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you most
you weren't there." The Lord replied,
"My son, my precious child, I love you
and would never leave you.
During the times of trial and suffering,
when you see only one set of footprints,
it was then that I carried you."
The Beatitudes
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the Serenity
to accept the things I cannot change
Courage to change the things I can
and Wisdom to know the difference
God's Comfort
It's hard to watch the passing
of a kind and loving man
It's hard to say goodbye
and make the loved ones understand
It's hard to picture moving on
without him being near
It's hard to believe that he has gone
and it's hard to stop these tears.
But though this pain is hard to bear
These hours full of sorrow
We all must keep our eyes on God
Who promises joy tomorrow
It's easy to rest in the peace of God
to allow His grace to heal
It's easy to let the love of God
ease that pain we feel.
It's easy to stand in the strength of God
when Jesus is our Lord
Let Him comfort you in this time
Then things won't seem so hard.
When My Savior Brings Me Home
As my days on earth have ended
and my time has finally come
Don't think I've left you, just rejoice
that my battle's finally won.
It was in those quiet hours
when I seemed so far away
That my Savior sat beside me
to prepare me for this day.
He settled all my doubts and fears
and took away the pain.
Please know there was no suffering
when at last my Savior came.
To you it may have seemed too hard
and lasted much too long,
But for me it was a peaceful wait
for God to bring me home.
I know that you did all you could
and yes, He heard your cries,
For God Himself reached out His hand
and gently closed my eyes.
Life
Life is but a stopping place, a pause in what's to be,
A resting place along the road, to sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys, different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
But never meant to stay.
Our destination is a place, far greater than we know,
For some, the journey's quicker, for some the journey's slow.
And when the journey finally ends, we'll claim a great reward,
And find an everlasting peace, together with the Lord.
My Last Request
Please don't say that I gave up, just say that I gave in.
Don't say I lost the battle, for through God the victory's won.
Please don't say how good I was, just that I did my best.
Just say I tried my best to give, the most I could, not less.
Please don't give me wings or halos, for that's for God to do.
I want no more than I deserve, no extras, just my due.
Don't give expensive flowers, or talk in soft, hushed tones.
Don't be concerned about me now, I'm with God, I've made it home.
Don't talk about what could have been, it's over and it's done.
Just see to all my family's needs, especially the little ones.
When you draw a picture of me, don't draw me as a saint.
I've done some good, I've done some wrong, so please use all your paint.
Not just the brighter, lighter tones, use some grays and darks.
In fact, don't put me down on canvas, just paint me in your hearts.
Don't just remember good times, but remember too the bad.
For life is full of many things, some happy and some sad.
But if you must do something, then I have one last request.
Forgive me any wrong I've done, and with the love that's left,
Thank God for my soul's resting, thank God for I've been blessed.
Thank God for all who loved me...Praise God who loved me best.
Miss Me, But Let Me Go
When I come to the end of the road
And when the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room
Why cry for a soul set free
Miss me a little _ but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that we once shared
Miss me _ but let me go
For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone
It's all a part of the Master's plan
A step on the road to home
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me, but let me go
God's Garden
God looked around His garden,
and saw an empty space.
He looked down from heaven,
and saw your smiling face.
He put His arms around you,
and whispered, "Come to rest"
His garden must be beautiful,
He picks only the very best.
It broke our hearts to lose you,
but you did not go alone,
A part of us went with you,
the day God called you home.
Our thoughts are always with you,
a million times we've cried.
And if our love could have saved you,
you never would have died.
Safely Home
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now in peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! But Jesus' love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth's shadows.
Pray to trust our Father's Will.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth-
You shall rest in Jesus' land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!
When I'm Gone
When I'm gone release me, let me go
I have so many things to see and do
You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears
Be happy that we had so many years.
I gave you my love. You can only guess
How much you gave to me in happiness.
I thank you for the love you each have shown
But now it's time I traveled on alone.
So grieve a while for me if grieve you must
Then let your grief be comforted by trust,
So bless the memories with your heart
It's only for awhile that we must part.
I won't be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Though you can't see me or touch me, I'll be near.
And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear
All of my love around you soft and clear.
And then, when you must come this way alone
I'll greet you with a smile and say, "Welcome Home".
Loving Memories
Your gentle face and patient smile
With sadness we recall
You had a kindly word for each
And died beloved by all.
The voice is mute and stilled the heart
That loved us well and true,
Ah, bitter was the trial to part
From one so good as you.
You are not forgotten loved one
Nor will you ever be
As long as life and memory last
We will remember thee.
We miss you now, our hearts are sore,
As time goes by we miss you more,
Your loving smile, your gentle face,
No one can fill your vacant place.
Should You Go First
Should you go first, and I remain
To walk the road alone,
I'll live in memory's garden dear,
with happy days we've known.
In spring I'll wait for rose's red,
when fades the lilac blue,
In early fall, when brown leaves fall
I'll catch a glimpse of you.
Should you go first, and I remain
For battles to be fought,
Each thing you've touched along the way
will be a hallowed spot.
I'll hear your voice, I'll see your smile,
though blindly I may grope;
The memory of your helping hand
will buoy me on with hope.
Should you go first and I remain,
to finish with the scroll,
No lenth'ning shadows shall creep in
to make this life seem droll.
We've known so much happiness
We've had our cup of joy,
And memory is one gift of God
That death cannot destroy.
Gone But Not Forgotten
God saw the road was getting rough,
The hills too hard to climb,
He gently closed those loving eyes,
And whispered, "Peace Be Thine".
The weary hours and days of pain,
The sleepless nights are passed.
The ever patient, worn out frame,
has found sweet rest at last.
God saw that you were getting weary,
So He did what He knew best.
He came and stood beside you,
And whispered, "Come and Rest".
You bid some a last farewell,
And some a goodbye.
You were gone before our eyes,
And only God knows why.
I'm Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I found peace, at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah, yes, this too I will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full; I've savored much,
Good times, good friends,
a loved ones' touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lengthen it now, with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share it with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
You Wonder Why
I went away and didn't say good-bye,
I couldn't begin to tell you for I hate to see you cry.
My ship came in at (insert time) and beautiful it was to see,
For the Captain was King Jesus, and softly He called me.
I ran across the leeway and fell down at His feet.
He took me gently in His arms; my rest is now complete.
A Place Where Children Are
What kind of place would heaven be
with all its streets of gold,
if all the souls that dwell up there
like yours and mine, were old?
How strange would heaven's music
sound when harps begin to ring,
if children were not gathered 'round
to help the angels sing.
The children that God sends to us
are only just a loan,
He knows we need their sunshine
to make the house a home.
We need the inspiration of
a baby's blessed smile.
He doesn't say they've come to stay,
just lends them for a while.
Sometimes it takes them years to do
the work for which they come.
Sometimes in just a month or two
our Father calls them home.
I like to think some souls up there
bear not one sinful scar.
I love to think of heaven as
a place where children are.
Where Daddy Waits
For those of us that are here in tears
It seems like days, since he left us here.
But it's been many years since that awful day,
When the angels took my Daddy away.
I miss him on those endless nights
When Daddy is needed to make everything right.
I miss his smile, his laugh, his charm,
I miss being held in Daddy's arms.
I remember his stories, his smell, his touch...
I still miss him so very much.
But when my last breath, I finally draw,
And I walk through death's open door,
He'll be there, standing, at Heaven's Golden Gate
I know, that's where my Daddy waits.
After Glow
I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an after glow of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun,
Replaced with happy memories left when my life is done.
My Grandfather
Since I was a little child,
In all that I've been through;
You've always been my hero,
No one stood as tall as you.
You were the one who took the time,
To teach what I needed to learn;
The lessons in life you shared with me,
You shared with love and concern.
I loved you as a little child,
Still more now that I'm grown;
And one day soon I'll share those lessons
With children of my own.
From generation to generation,
I'll pass on your legacy;
I'll tell of my loving Grandfather,
And all that you've meant to me.
An Angel's Kiss
We go through life so often, not stopping to enjoy the day,
And we take each one for granted, as we travel on our way.
For in your pain and sorrow, an angel's kiss will help you through,
This kiss is very private, for it's meant for only you.
We never stop to measure, anything we just might miss.
But if the wind should blow by softly, you'll feel an angel's kiss.
A kiss that's sent from heaven, a kiss from up above,
A kiss that's very special, from someone that you love.
So when your hearts are heavy, and filled with tears and pain,
And no one can console you, remember once again...
About the ones you grieve for, because you sadly miss,
And the gentle breeze you took for granted, was just an angel's kiss.

with happy days we've known.
In spring I'll wait for rose's red,
when fades the lilac blue,
In early fall, when brown leaves fall
I'll catch a glimpse of you.
Should you go first, and I remain
For battles to be fought,
Each thing you've touched along the way
will be a hallowed spot.
I'll hear your voice, I'll see your smile,
though blindly I may grope;
The memory of your helping hand
will buoy me on with hope.
Should you go first and I remain,
to finish with the scroll,
No lenth'ning shadows shall creep in
to make this life seem droll.
We've known so much happiness
We've had our cup of joy,
And memory is one gift of God
That death cannot destroy.
Gone But Not Forgotten
God saw the road was getting rough,
The hills too hard to climb,
He gently closed those loving eyes,
And whispered, "Peace Be Thine".
The weary hours and days of pain,
The sleepless nights are passed.
The ever patient, worn out frame,
has found sweet rest at last.
God saw that you were getting weary,
So He did what He knew best.
He came and stood beside you,
And whispered, "Come and Rest".
You bid some a last farewell,
And some a goodbye.
You were gone before our eyes,
And only God knows why.
I'm Free
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I found peace, at the close of day.
If my parting has left a void,
then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Ah, yes, this too I will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full; I've savored much,
Good times, good friends,
a loved ones' touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lengthen it now, with undue grief.
Lift up your heart and share it with me,
God wanted me now, He set me free.
You Wonder Why
I went away and didn't say good-bye,
I couldn't begin to tell you for I hate to see you cry.
My ship came in at (insert time) and beautiful it was to see,
For the Captain was King Jesus, and softly He called me.
I ran across the leeway and fell down at His feet.
He took me gently in His arms; my rest is now complete.
A Place Where Children Are
What kind of place would heaven be
with all its streets of gold,
if all the souls that dwell up there
like yours and mine, were old?
How strange would heaven's music
sound when harps begin to ring,
if children were not gathered 'round
to help the angels sing.
The children that God sends to us
are only just a loan,
He knows we need their sunshine
to make the house a home.
We need the inspiration of
a baby's blessed smile.
He doesn't say they've come to stay,
just lends them for a while.
Sometimes it takes them years to do
the work for which they come.
Sometimes in just a month or two
our Father calls them home.
I like to think some souls up there
bear not one sinful scar.
I love to think of heaven as
a place where children are.
Where Daddy Waits
For those of us that are here in tears
It seems like days, since he left us here.
But it's been many years since that awful day,
When the angels took my Daddy away.
I miss him on those endless nights
When Daddy is needed to make everything right.
I miss his smile, his laugh, his charm,
I miss being held in Daddy's arms.
I remember his stories, his smell, his touch...
I still miss him so very much.
But when my last breath, I finally draw,
And I walk through death's open door,
He'll be there, standing, at Heaven's Golden Gate
I know, that's where my Daddy waits.
After Glow
I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.
I'd like to leave an after glow of smiles when life is done.
I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways
Of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.
I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun,
Replaced with happy memories left when my life is done.
My Grandfather
Since I was a little child,
In all that I've been through;
You've always been my hero,
No one stood as tall as you.
You were the one who took the time,
To teach what I needed to learn;
The lessons in life you shared with me,
You shared with love and concern.
I loved you as a little child,
Still more now that I'm grown;
And one day soon I'll share those lessons
With children of my own.
From generation to generation,
I'll pass on your legacy;
